At Aesthetic Solutions, Inc., we recognize that dry skin is problematic, especially here in Northern Colorado. While our med spa offers skincare regimens designed to remedy this problem, we also suggest the following tips to combat dry skin so that you can love the skin you’re in, year-round.
Follow These Tips to Tackle Dry Skin
Hydrate
Water is key to keeping your skin hydrated, and it’s the most natural way to promote healthier skin. Drinking plenty of water every day will balance pH levels, help maintain your skin’s elasticity, and flush toxins that can have a negative impact on your skin from your body.
Avoid Alcohol and Caffeine
Did you know that alcohol and caffeine can lead to dehydration, which can leave your skin more vulnerable to dryness and chaffing? When you limit the intake of alcoholic and/or caffeinated beverages, it can reduce dry skin dramatically.
Maintain a Healthy Diet
Healthy, hydrated skin can easily be maintained with a good diet. There are certain foods that can play an important role in your skin’s health, including almonds, fatty fish, sweet potatoes, avocadoes, and bell peppers. The good fats, vitamins, and minerals in these and other foods can play a vital role in hydrating your skin. Not to mention, they are good for overall health.
Use a Humidifier
Humidifiers release a fine mist to help achieve optimal humidity in a room, which creates the perfect environment for hydrating your skin. Ideally, a humidifier should be placed in an area where you spend the most time, such as the bedroom.
Exfoliate Your Skin
Exfoliating is an essential skincare regimen that can be quite beneficial. When the skin is exfoliated, it allows moisturizers and serums to penetrate the skin more easily, making them more effective. Neglecting to exfoliate can lead to dry skin, so make sure this is part of your skincare routine.
Apply Moisturizers
Moisturizing face creams that contain ceramides and hyaluronic acid can make all the difference when it comes to preventing dry, cracked skin. Apply daily to reap the benefits of healthy, hydrated skin.
Avoid Harsh Cleansers
Washing your face every day can lead to dry skin, especially when using face washes or soaps that contain additives, fragrance, and/or alcohol. Opt for gentle face cleansers that won’t strip your skin’s natural oils and look for ingredients such as formulated chamomile or oatmeal.
Professional Skincare Treatments
If you are having trouble combatting dry skin on your own, a professional skincare treatment can give you the boost you need. At Aesthetic Solutions, Inc. of Lafayette, CO, we offer a variety of skincare procedures that can help you achieve your desired results. For optimal results, we recommend the following:
Hydra Facial
A Hydra Facial is optimal for dry, chaffed skin, as it provides your skin with superior hydration. This treatment combines vortex infusion and vacuuming to remove dead skin cells and impurities, while simultaneously bathing the new skin with cleansing, hydrating, and moisturizing skin serums and solutions. The Hydra Facial is non-irritating, refreshing, and soothing and offers immediate results.
We recommend the Hydra Facial treatment once a month, or at least once every three months, to maintain your healthy, hydrated skin.
Chemical Peels
Mild exfoliating acids, such as glycolic acid or lactic acid, are part of a solution applied to your face. This will result in a skin peel, which is designed to remove dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. Chemical peels promote new growth of the outermost part of the skin, resulting in smoother skin that’s less dry.
Dermaplaning
This procedure, in short, is manual exfoliation with a scalpel. Dermaplaning superficially scrapes away the outermost layer of dead skin and the uppermost portion of the Stratum Corneum, along with the fine vellus hairs.
Excess vellus hairs can cause a build-up of dirt and oils in the hair follicles, and by removing them, it results in healthier looking skin. Dermaplaning also allows skincare products to better penetrate the skin, which will promote hydration and reduce dryness.
Along with these professional skincare treatments, Aesthetic Solutions, Inc. offers a variety of quality products that can help with dry skin, regardless of skin type. Our highly trained and experienced aestheticians are happy to assist you in finding the right solutions for all your skincare needs and goals.
